Our 2 Part beginner friendly “Dressmaking with Commercial Patterns” Workshop is aimed at helping you take accurate measurements, pick the correct size based on your measurements and make necessary pattern alterations. You will lean how to adjust the pattern pieces to make them suit your measurements before making a toile or final garment. Making these necessary alternations at start will help you sew a better fitting toile will less fitting adjustments needed afterwords.
During Part 1 of this course you will learn:
- Taking your body measurements
- Assessing the differences to industry standard measurements and establishing dressmaking cup size.
- Picking the right size
- Finished garment measurements and wearing plus design ease.
- Pattern alterations such as: moving bust darts, lengthening and shortening bodice part, grading between sizes, adjusting the shoulder length, adjusting sleeve width and length, full bust adjustment (FBA) and small bust adjustment (FBA).
Following this course you will have the option to attend Part 2 of the course. During Part 2 you will be able to put your learnings into practice by working on your desired sewing pattern, making alternations needed for your measurements and sewing a final garment. Your tutor can help you choose the sewing pattern for this if needed.
