Double Gauze
Double Gauze is created when two layers of fine cotton gauze are stitched together with small irregular stitches. The result is a fabric with a lightweight and bouncy feel. This construction traps air between the layers and makes it quite a warm fabric, while still feeling lightweight and breathable. The fabric is soft, very comfortable to wear and easy to sew.
Double Gauze will ‘crinkle’ up when washed, especially at the edges. You can iron it before cutting to remove some of the crinkles to have use of the full width of fabric.
Double gauze can be used for dresses, tops, loungewear and childrens clothing. Our blog “Inspiration for Sewing with Double Gauze” has lots of pattern suggestions and ideas.
