Sew Spring Wardrobe - Make your own Blouse, Shirt and Dress from woven fabrics - monthly workshops

Does sewing blouses, shirts or dresses appeal to you but you find it daunting to pick the right pattern or to tackle the project on your own? 

Our beginner friendly “Sew Spring Wardrobe” Workshops are aimed at helping you create the elegant, timeless and beautiful pieces that you will want to recreate countless times and you’d want to reach out for many occasions. On these workshops we will cover all the basic principles of dressmaking, from taking measurements to choosing the right fabric for the pattern, cutting out, setting in sleeves, sewing buttonholes, gathering, finishing touches such as french seams and using burrito method and more, whilst sewing the actual garments that you can wear with pride.

This is a series of monthly workshops, taking place once every month during the period of March to May in 2026. The specific dates scheduled are 8 March, 18 April and 16 May. Each session will be focused on sewing different patterns / garments and ideally using different types of woven fabrics. 

You can purchase these workshops individually as well, however by purchasing a block of 3 sessions you are saving plus it guarantees your space on all of them. 

During these workshops you will learn the techniques you need to master sewing with different types of fabrics and using different dressmaking sewing techniques.

In March you will have the option to make Revel Topper, Demeter Dress /Top or Remy Raglan Tee, in April you will be making Castagnette or Anthea Blouse and in May once you build the confidence you will have the option to make Este Shirt or Classic Shirt Pattern. 

Each time you will be spending a day sewing with others as part of a small group in our studio space surrounded by beautiful fabrics, while learning and developing your skills. This includes measuring, making adjustments if needed, cutting out and then sewing. 

You will also have the opportunity to shop for the fabrics and other sewing supplies during breaks after the workshop.

Experience:

This series of workshops is for all levels of sewists, from beginners to experienced (as long as you can use a sewing machine). 

Supplies: You will be supplied with a sewing kit including fabric, paper sewing pattern with instructions, thread and any other sewing notions required for making your garment nearer the time of each workshop, in time for you to pre wash the fabric. We will send you a payment link for this with the options of fabrics to choose from along with the workshop exclusive discount code. The sewing kit or pattern is not included in the workshop listed price.

You will need to bring your own sewing machine and overlocker on the day. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to borrow one of our machines. 

Group size: there will be a space for up to 5 people to attend the workshop but the course will go ahead regardless of the group size. This is an ideal number for you to enjoy company while sewing and also ensure that everyone will have plenty of time with your tutor for tips and guidance. 

Time: 10am - 4pm or 5pm including lunch and tea / coffee break. 

Location: Lamazi Fabrics Studio is located in the centre of Horsham in West Sussex at  Unit 1, City Business Centre, 6 Brighton Road, Horsham,  RH13 5BB. Free parking is available on site. 

We will provide *tea/coffee and snacks. Please bring your own packed lunch.

- How to use a pattern and cutting out 

- Dressmaking techniques and finishing touches relevant for each garment: such as sewing with french seams, using bias binding,  burrito method and more.
