Does sewing your clothes appeal to you but you find it daunting to pick the right pattern, fabric, size or to tackle the project, including fitting on your own?

Our beginner friendly “Friday Afternoons Dressmaking Workshops” are aimed at helping you create the elegant, timeless and beautiful pieces that you will want to recreate countless times and you’d want to reach out for many occasions. At these workshops we will cover all the basic principles of dressmaking, from taking measurements to choosing the right fabric for the pattern, choosing the right size, making pattern adjustments based on your body measurements, cutting out, working with different types of fabrics, including stretch fabrics, setting in sleeves, facings, plackets, collars, burrito method, sewing buttonholes, gathering, finishing touches such as french seams and flat fell seams and more, whilst sewing the actual garments that you can wear with pride.

This is a series of 5 workshops taking place every Friday 3pm-6pm starting from the 4th of September until the 2nd of October.

During these workshops you will learn the techniques you need to master sewing with different types of fabrics and using different dressmaking sewing techniques.

Each time you will be spending a day sewing with others as part of a small group in our studio space surrounded by beautiful fabrics, while learning and developing your skills. This includes measuring, making adjustments if needed, cutting out and then sewing.

You will also have the opportunity to shop for the fabrics and other sewing supplies during breaks or after the workshop using a special workshop discount.

Experience:

This series of workshops is for all levels of sewists, from beginners to experienced.

Supplies: Prior to the workshop we will contact you to help choose the project and suitable fabric for it.
