Maris requires a bit of patience when sewing, but you’ll be rewarded with a light, playful top. The gathers at the front and back meet at the doubled yoke, creating volume and a neat inner finish that hides any fraying. The sleeve is given a touch of flair with gathers at the cuff and a slit. Other features: Maris has a hidden polo placket at the centre front, a neckline finished with bias tape, and a small slit in the side seam that makes styling extra flexible: tuck it in at the front and leave loose at the back, or however you want to wear it.

Fabric recommendations:
Maris requires a fabric that really enhances the drape and volume. For a more pronounced look, you could use firmer fabrics such as stonewashed or paper-touch / nylon-touch poplin, cotton sateen, nylon or taffeta. If you prefer a lighter, more subtle look, drapey options such as crepe (viscose, polyester or silk), viscose satin, chambray or muslin are ideal. If you're somewhere in between, linen, seersucker or double gauze are lovely all-round choices with a natural, soft drape.
