Key Colours for Spring and Summer 2024

This year we are splitting our Spring and Summer trend report into 2 sections- the key trends to watch out for and the biggest colours to grace the catwalks. We are starting off with our favourite subject- Colour!

Read on for a round-up of the 4 key colours to wear this season and our favourite ready-to-wear looks to recreate.

White

It just wouldn’t be spring without crisp white making a return and what better way to bring on the new season than with the ultimate palette cleanser. A crisp white linen shirt or classic white tee are timeless pieces for a reason. From cut out party dresses to impeccably tailored shirts and trousers, the catwalks had plenty of stand out styles to recreate.

A classic white embroidered shirt can be dress up or down. Shorten the sleeves of Atelier Brunette’s ‘La Chemise’ to recreate this look.

A white (or off-white in this case) jumpsuit can be dressed up or down depending on your accessories.

A white linen or linen blend dress is a real multi-tasker - it will double up as a beach over up, can be layered as a lightweight ‘duster’ jacket over jeans and a t-shirt or let it shine on its own as a dress.

Red

Continuing with fashion’s current obsession with red, the spring and summer collections made a shift towards deeper and more opulent shades. This trend is ideal if sweet spring pastels are not your thing.

A red tank is a simple basic that can be paired with everything from jeans to white linen trousers.

Special event or just want to make a fancy frock? A maxi length wrap dress in this vibrant red print will make you feel special and fancy.

Pale Blue

Soothing shades of sky blue will help us manifest clear spring days. (We can always hope!) If it doesn’t work these pretty shades of cool blue and turquoise are perfect for any spring or summer occasion, from casual blue denim to beautiful dresses for special occasions.

You can find more inspiration for these pretty shades on our Pinterest

A ‘buffet dress’ is a great garment to make for spring as it can easily be layered while it is still a bit chilly, then worn with sandals for the summer. The Protea Capsule wardrobe is a great pattern to invest in as it provides lots of wardrobe options.

Similar to a white shirt or shirt dress, a lightweight denim shirt is the perfect multi-purpose in your wardrobe. This Lyocell denim will be a dream to wear and the new Djette shirt from Cousette has some really interesting details.

A pair of printed blue shorts will transport you to your favourite holiday destination in an instant. Make a full co-ord set to complete the look (or combine with your white embroidered shirt 😉).

Pastel Lilac

Lilac Lovers rejoice, this pretty pastel shade made a standout appearance on many Spring/Summer catwalks. From sweaters to trench coats, dress, skirts and shirts, you can choose a full lilac monochrome look or just add one or two key garments.

The perfect spring cover-up, a lilac blazer will pair with lots of colours (have a look at our Purple mood board on Pinterest for some inspiration).

We all know spring can still be chilly, a lilac or purple sweater or cardigan will keep you cosy while adding a pop of colour to your outfit.

What would spring be without florals?! A ditsy floral maxi dress is a spring essential of many of us and this pretty lilac print is right on trend.
