Lamazi Makers Club - April Luxury Bag

This month our focus is jersey / knit fabrics. For the April Luxury Bag we picked this exquisite Organic Cotton Chess Knit fabric and paired it with the complementary organic cotton ribbing. With its subtle gingham jacquard texture, the soft Organic Chess Knit strikes the perfect balance for a light to medium weight knitwear - structured enough for a sweater, yet light and breathable enough for a t-shirt. It’s an ideal choice for effortless spring and summer pieces.

We couldn’t stop dreaming about wearing this lush fabric as a summer sweater tee and paired it with Arielle pattern by Fibre Mood. Arielle is a summery jumper for sunny days when there’s a chill in the air. The fun sleeves have a nifty pleat at the shoulders. And all the edges are finished in ribbed fabric. Arielle fits like a glove and is done in no time.

We have recorded a sew-along to help you with all the tricky areas of this pattern, from getting the perfect neckband to creating that beautiful volume in the sleeves. Read on to find the link.

Liana has used the Evergreen colour and used the self fabric for the neckband, cuffs and hem band. As this fabric does not have as much stretch as the ribbing we have included some tips in the sew along for using this instead of ribbing.

Sharlene has made her Arielle in the Mocha shade, matching perfectly with our new Painted Foliage Sunset Viscose (she is planning a skirt very soon with this fabric). She also sewed the sleeves with an inverted pleat. Find our sewing tutorial here for this

Luxury Sewing Tool

Never worry about determining if your fabric has the correct stretch for your pattern again. This handy Stretch Ruler from Jenerates will made finding out the stretch percentage super easy. Plus it has a handy ruler on one side, making this an essential tool in your sewing kit.

Sew-Along

We have a sew-along on our YouTube channel with lots of hints and tips for sewing the Arielle Top on both your sewing machine and overlocker. Once you make one we know you will be itching to make another (and another...) as we have both felt the same!

We have tips for sewing the neckband (which is a slightly different shape to the normal neckband) and how to make attaching the cuff to that gorgeous, voluminous sleeve as easy as possible. You can find the sew-along here.

If the Arielle isn't for you, you can also make simple t-shirts, lightweight cardigans or dresses in this fabric.

Do not forget to share your unpacking and your Arielle using @lamazifabrics and #LamaziMakersClub for the chance to win a prize.

Happy Sewing!
