March Luxury Bag - Cotton Lawn Shirt
We are excited to introduce the first luxury cotton lawn to our exclusive fabric collection. Mediterranean Lemons is a conversational print designed by Rachel Parker and part of our Adventure Exclusive Collection. It features lemons on a white speckled background with blue and lilac foliage. Perfect for creating elegant garments for the Spring/Summer seasons, to take us away to the dreamiest of destinations.

We could not stop dreaming of this print as a classic shirt, so it was an easy choice for our first Luxury Bag. We have paired it with the Named Clothing Silmu shirt, a classic button down shirt with an interesting take on the collar.

March Luxury Bag - Viscose Dress
For the viscose option, we chose one of our favourite prints - Painted Foliage - but reimagined in a new Teal and Magenta colour way.
Painted Foliage features a watercolour style foliage design in bold and beautiful colours. Designed by Rachel Parker, this print is inspired by the idea of a rainbow canopy of leaves, with the effect of dappled sunlight passing through, capturing summer in a fabric.

Our exclusive viscose has tighter weave and more weight, therefore it is more durable and will crease less compared to the average lightweight viscose fabric. This viscose is ideal for a wide range of garments, from dresses to tops, loose trousers to skirts. We paired this fabric with the Named Clothing Silmu Shirtdress, creating an elegant silhouette in a timeless colour palette.

Luxury Sewing Tools

The sewing tool featured in the Luxury Cotton Bag is the Jenerates Silicone Hemmer. This handy tool will make pressing hems and curved areas super easy. For the pockets on the Silmu shirt, we have used the straight edge to get a clean press for top, and the rounded curved edge for the corners, the straight edge for the button placket and the slightly curved edge for the hem.
You can find the video tutorial here.

The sewing tool in the Luxury Viscose Bag is the innovative Flex Hemmer by Jenerates. This one can curve in either direction or even both at the same time, perfect for shirt tails and collar stands. It can also be used to press longer seams in a straight line.
You can find the video tutorial for this tool here.
Tips for Sewing Your Silmu
Named Clothing have sew-along series for each step of sewing this pattern on their website, you can find the link here. We have a few extra hints and tips for you below to help you get an extra luxurious finish.
One of the most beautiful things about sewing a shirt are the clean finishing techniques that can be used on the inside. With most seams already tucked inside plackets, collar stands and yokes, there are only a few raw edges left. We love to finish these edges with French seams for the most luxurious finish to your garment.
Find our tutorial here for creating a luxury finish on your garment.
The collar stand is a tricky area to get right, especially when both sides are visible at the front. Follow our tips here for 2 options to get the perfect finish.
