Welcome to the Lamazi Makers Club September Luxury Inspiration blog.
Cosy meets stylish in September’s Luxury sewing kit. This month we partnered with the cherished French brand and picked RESSAC- a must have modern sweatshirt pattern with signature Maison Fauve design elements. The intermediate level RESSAC focuses on everything that makes a sweatshirt seductive: perfect proportions (not too wide nor too tight), a comfortable length, raglan sleeves for a sporty look and Maison Fauve's signature details: the little decorative darts on the front neckline, the cut-outs highlighted by ribbing at the sides that gives the garment structured silhouette and a unique kangaroo pocket that blends into the design beautifully.
We paired RESSAC with the snuggliest organic cotton brushed sweater fabric available in solid autumnal Jewel tones, along with the matching ribbing fabric.
We are sure that you will fall in love with this pattern as much as we did and that there will be not one but many Ressac sweaters in your wardrobe soon. And if you do, do not forget to check our range of RESSAC sweater bundles in beautiful prints and matching ribbings as well as plains and other trims. You have the option to purchase RESSAC as a new sewing kits with a pattern or without.
Our band supporter Megan @megansewsstuff made her RESSAC in Burgundy shade and paired it with an autumnal viscose twill included in September Inspire option.
Sewing Tips and Tutorial
You can find a step by step sew-along for RESSAC sweater here. The video is recorded in French and available with English subtitles, which you can turn on in the settings of the video on YouTube.
We also have some tips from Megan - who made RESSAC in burgundy option and paired it with the viscose included in the September Inspire option.
“RESSAC sweater was fairly straightforward to make. I thought all the different panels would be tricky but it was fine - you just need to make sure all your seams match up! The instructions were clear. The fit is fairly accurate - it’s quite cropped so if you prefer hip length you may consider lengthening a little.
I found the hem really boxy so I reduced the length of my ribbing by a couple of inches to bring it in a little more. I might reduce the cuffing a little next time too.
I did topstitch around the neckline but I may not do this next time - I think it ruins the look of the darts at the neck ( but that’s totally a personal choice!!. I made a size 34 and graded to 36 at the hips. I would do a straight 34 next time.”
Luxury Sewing Tool
The sewing tool we picked this month is Chalk Wheel Stick from Prym Love Collection, which is the next step forward in marking fabrics with chalk. Its ergonomic design facilitates accurate fatigue free working. With a recessed grip for index and middle finger, the stick adapts to the user's individual hand position. Tracing wheel produces accurate and neat fine lines on fabrics of your choice.
The Chalk Wheel you received in your Luxury Kit includes a white chalk cartridge and will be a great help for marking the kangaroo pocket placement on your RESSAC.
You will also receive a spool of Maraflex thread with your Luxury Bag, making it super easy to sew Ressac on your sewing machine. Find out all our tips for using this thread over on our YouTube channel.
Do not forget to share your unpacking and your garments using @lamazifabrics and #LamaziMakersClub for the chance to win a prize.
Happy Sewing!
