Master Your Overlocker and Sewing with Stretch Fabric Workshop

Does your overlocker intimidate or challenge you?

Our Master Your Overlocker and Sewing with Stretch Workshop is aimed at dispelling all the myths and horror stories surrounding using your overlocker. Once you mastered these skills you will love whipping up a quick and easy sweatshirt or t-shirt. 

During this workshop you will learn:

• how to thread and set up your overlocker (please note this section can take a while as everyones overlocker is different and we will practice rethreading it).
• how to identify different types of stretch fabrics and the appropriate settings for them on your overlocker.
• how to set your differential feed to the right settings for your fabric.
• when you should change your threads and which ones you need to change.
• how to sew woven fabrics on your overlocker.
• different techniquies on your overlocker such as a rolled hem on woven fabrics, a lettuce hem on jersey and a flat lock stitch on jersey. 

You will have the option to make your own sweatshirt of your choice. We recommend the Le Sweat Sweatshirt, Le Hoodie,    Billie sweatshirt or Jarrah sweatshirt. (As we will be using overlockers, a garment that is finished with hem bands/cuffs is ideal as we will not be able to sew a 'normal hem' on a sewing machine).

You will be spending the day sewing with others in our studio space surrounded by beautiful fabrics, while learning and developing your skills.

Experience: This workshop is for all levels of sewists, from beginners to experienced who want to master using their overlocker. 

Supplies: You will need to have your pattern cut before attending the workshop (in a french terry or fleecy fabric for a sweatshirt and matching ribbing). You can shop our range of sweatshirt fabrics here and ribbing here. If you require any advice before choosing your fabric and cutting your pattern please get in touch with us.

You will need to bring you overlocker, any tools (tweezers, screwdriver, etc) that came with the machine and your sewing tools (scissors, pins, etc)

Group size: there will be space for up to 6 people to attend this workshop. This is an ideal number for you to enjoy company while sewing and also ensure that everyone will have plenty of time with our tutor. 

Time: 10am - 5pm including breaks. 

Location: Lamazi Fabrics Studio located in the centre of Horsham in West Sussex. Parking is available on site. 

We will provide *tea/coffee and light snacks. You will need to bring your own lunch.

Payment: You have the option to pay deposit to book your space or pay in full. If you pay deposit, you will be required to pay in full at least 1 week before the workshop. Deposit is non refundable but do get in touch if you will need to discuss.
